About Andrew

My gratitude for horses is endless, they have truly given me so many opportunites, taking me all over the world and connecting me with my closest friends. They are constantly teaching me lessons in patience, communication, trust and leadership. I also love the community, strong and hardworking people, that dedicate their lives to the horses well being and the unique sport of equestrianism.

These majestic animals caught my attention early on in life. My family had no previous knowledge about horses, but supported my curiosity and brought me to a nearby riding school. The barn turned out to be my second home, and every chance I got I spent watching, learning and connecting with the horses and the people around them.

I spent my pony, junior and young rider years competing in both eventing and showjumping, winning the Norwegian Championship in eventing twice, and competing national championships in showjumping at an advanced level. Choosing equestrian studies in high school and taking a bachelors in Equine Science was an obvious choice for me.

While competing in the sport, I lacked the correct mental skills, management and healthy habits making riding full-time professionally tough. The more I focused on results and the need to produce horses to make a living on it, the more things started to go downhill, taking all the joy out of the sport I love.

So I took a much needed break, and embarked on a journey of self development. I realized that talent will only get you to a certain point, but without doing the work on your mindset, emotional health, and physical body you will not live up to your full potential.

From 2013-2020, I worked at an Equestrian high school as a teacher. Working with about 90 teenagers and 70 horses, five days a week for 8 years, has taught me many lessons in communication, problemsolving, leadership, compassion and humility.

In 2020 I moved back to Norway from Sweden and started my own educational business, The Conscious Rider. During this time I had the privilege to work with the Norwegian riding federation on projects bringing educational workshops on riding, horsemanship and mental performance skills to young equestrians all over Norway. Helping the young riders on the Norwegian national teams in showjumping and eventing at workshops and international championships gave me insight on how far I had come since I was at that age myself.

Currently I live in california and am proud to both ride and help train riders at a top training program in Rolling hills California, Seahorse Riding Club.
